A little about me…

Painting is my method of expressing what I find most beautiful or interesting, particularly when words are inadequate. It is sometimes impossible to convey a feeling or an idea in anything other than color, line, and light.

Continuous learning has led me to develop a visual language that captures the raw emotion and the intensity of a fleeting beautiful moment. I work with acrylics on canvas to catch these moments and make some form of them permanent.

My process often involves intuitive layering of paint, energetic mark-making, and a push-and-pull with color to evoke a sense of movement and atmosphere. I am drawn to the liberation found in non-representational expressionist painting. Similar to poetry, abstract art forces us to focus on the essence.

While I am currently working in an abstract expressionist style, I also enjoy creating landscapes and pet portraits, which allow me to celebrate the natural world and the unique spirit of individual animals.

I have lived in Toronto, the Bay Area, and New England, and each area has a sense of place and a beauty all its own. But I grew up in Upstate New York, and the landscape of this farm country on the Canadian border is where I fell in love with the natural world. As a child, I spent as much time as possible outdoors, wandering through fields and woods.

This landscape shaped who I am and how I see the world. My art is my invitation to you to join me there.
